PRP Stretch Marks

PRP and Derma Pen for stretch marks

Both men and women suffer from stretch marks. They can appear post weight loss/gain and are most often suffered by women post pregnancy.

Please be advised there will be a patient consultation from physician prior to the PRP treatment.

Stretch marks are a type of scar and can be quite noticeable as raised white or red lines. Usually on the arms, stomach, thighs or breast area. People can feel self-conscious about stretch marks, and can sometimes even deterring them from wear revealing clothes or swimwear.

Previously skin resurfacing laser treatments were popular in treating stretch marks. However today Derma Pen (micro needling) and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) has overtaken as an effective treatment for stretch marks. Occasionally laser resurfacing treatments are combined with PRP.

With the Derma pen minute holes are being created on both the outer epidermis layer and the inner dermis layer of the skin. These holes are so micro that it restores back to normal within minutes or hours. PRP’s job is to accelerate the healing response triggered by the Derma pen and it must do so during the time it’s open. So immediately after the Derma pen therapy, the PRP is applied. And massaged well enough for the platelets to actually seep through the holes. These platelets first stop the micro-bleeding caused by the Derma pen and then the growth factors in the platelets cause the production of collagen. The primary role of the collagen is to replace the dead skin cells. Which means, it’ll replace all the dead, broken and torn skin cells in this scarred area. Giving you fresh new skin in the areas of the stretch mark causing it to actually shrink in size and look more rejuvenated.
