FAQs

Fractional laser

Fractional laser resurfacing removes layers of superficial skin tissue in a fractionated method. Preprogrammed laser energy is passed through the Pixel micro optics lens array and penetrates the skin, affecting average of 15-20 percent of the surface. It creates a micro-injury – without disturbing the surrounding tissue. Those micro-injured areas start the process of healing and the untreated area acts as a reservoir for rapid restoration. It reduces age spots, sun damage, acne scars, wrinkles, dull uneven skin tone and skin laxity. As collagen remodels a fresher, more youthful appearance develops!

Significant improvement in the texture and tone of the skin. A natural glow is simulated. A reduction in wrinkles, scarring, sun damage, freckles and tighter skin. The skin will continue to improve for a period of 6 months following the procedure provided proper skincare is used and sun exposure is minimized.

Individual results vary.

Significant improvement can be seen even in one treatment. However subsequent treatments are recommended for further improvements. The number of treatments recommended depends on the individuals skin issues, together with the age and lifestyle of the person. The friendly staff at Redeem Medispa will be able to recommend the course of treatment.
The effectiveness and safety of this procedure is high.

People consider fractional laser resurfacing for the following reasons:

  • Fractional laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers positive results with minimal side effects and complications.
  • The procedure requires very little downtime, as the surface layer of skin heals much faster than it would after surgery where multiple layers of skin are damaged.
  • Because it is non-surgical, the treatment itself does not take as long as cosmetic procedures involving surgery. Depending on the area being treated Fractional Laser treatments usually take about 45 minutes.
Nearly anyone who has a skin problem can undergo fractional laser resurfacing.
Discomfort during and after the treatment ranges from mild to moderate, depending upon the patient’s tolerance for pain. You might need an anaesthetic applied to the skin, which would require extra preparation time.

Fractional resurfacing is performed on an outpatient basis. You will go home straight after the treatment.

Prior to the procedure, you must not use exfoliants containing ingredients AHA (alpha hydroxides) or glycolic acid.

Your skin may tingle and feel hot, just as if you had sunburn. A cold compress on the area will relieve this uncomfortable feeling.

The reddened skin will fade and “bronze” within 1-3 days. The treated skin will then turn into a dark crust that feels like sandpaper. Approximately 10 -14 days later, this top layer of damaged skin will fall off and allow new skin to come to the surface.

  • Apply a hypoallergenic moisturizer to ease your symptoms after the treatment, but avoid creams with active ingredients such as Alpha hydroxides or Retinoids.
  • During the healing period, apply sun block with a minimum SPF of 30+ at least 30 minutes before going out into the sun.
  • Avoid scrubbing the laser-treated areas with any abrasive materials.
  • Keep cool, because sweat on freshly treated skin will sting.
  • It is best to wait to wear makeup until the 2nd day after treatment. If you must wear makeup, be sure the ingredients are as natural as possible.
  • Do not swim in a chlorinated pool for 1 week following treatment.
  • Do not pick at the damaged flaking skin.

After the treated area has completely healed, patients usually notice that their skin is smooth and glowing.

Key advantages:

  • Great results
  • Little or no downtime
  • Quick treatment time
  • Easy, in and out procedure

Laser Hair Removal

Each hair follicle goes through different stages in the hair growth cycle. The stages are Anagen(growth), Catagen (transient), and Telogen (resting). During treatment the laser light will damage the hair follicles that are in Anagen (growth) phase. This is why subsequent treatments are necessary, as not every follicle may be in the anagen phase each time. The number of treatments will be determined at your consultation after an analysis of the hair. Treatments are usually between 4–10 weeks apart depending on the area.

Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a form of light treatment. An laser/IPL system delivers a wavelength of light. The powerful burst of light to the hair causes damage to the hair follicle, as the melanin (dark pigment) absorbs the light and heats the hair, thereby removing the possibility of regrowth in that particular follicle.

The treatment area has to be shaved. Then clear gel is applied to the skin and the laser glides over the gel. Previously some lasers were considered to be painful, but with our modern technology today the treatment are quick and pain free.
Yes – in the hands of a fully qualified technician and the correct safety procedures are followed. We will provide you with specialist safety eyewear, which you must wear during the treatment. You may experience a slight sensation that feels like mild sunburn. Sunscreen is required to used following the treatment.

It is important to inform your technician if you have recently been on holiday in a hot country or if you have used a sun-bed or a fake tan.

IPL Skin Rejuvenation / PhotoFacial

Hyper-pigmentation is the brown colour in the skin which is determined by the pigment called melanin. Skin cells produce melanin, however when they are damaged or become unhealthy the melanin production is affected and become darker in patches. These can become more noticeable as the years go by. Often they develop because of sun damage, but there are other causes too, such as birth control pills, pregnancy, nursing, illnesses, medications and overall ageing.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems have been used to safely treat hyper -pigment problems on the skin since the late 1990s. These systems all use light energy specifically targeted to treat a variety of different skin problems.Using relatively low-energy, short-pulse broadband light, imperfections such as erythema of rosacea, superficial telangiectasia, dyschromia, age spots and other discolored signs of photo-aging can be gently heated and eliminated, replaced by newer, younger looking skin.

The procedure causes the skin to work at a higher and better efficiency level. The treatment reduces excessive oil secretion by reducing the swelling of oil glands. Bacteria are eliminated, as well as the improvement of collagen. Studies have shown that laser treatment will increase the collagen content in skin. This is great because as we age the level of collagen decreases. Photo facial also targets the red and brown spots, which are hidden in the superficial layers of the skin. Photo rejuvenation treats the hyper pigmentation due to sun damage and aging. This is very important to achieve beautiful and radiant skin.

In fact, laser skin treatments for wrinkles and other signs of aging can be done during a lunch hour and no one will notice any sign of treatment, just a gradual improvement in the skin’s appearance. Each treatment is gentle with no downtime.

As the baby boomer generation continues to age, the popularity of aesthetic procedures that aim to turn back the clock continues to skyrocket!

IPL Skin Rejuvenation commonly known as Photo facial is a great treatment for:

  • Hyper-pigmentation, Brown spots
  • Broken capillaries
  • Fine lines
  • large pore reduction
  • boost collagen production
  • mild scarring
  • other photo aging issues.

Platlelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Hairloss

PRP hair loss treatment increases blood circulation and provides nutrition to the hair follicle. When we provide platelets via PRP in the area of damaged hair follicles, it increases the body’s natural wound healing mechanism thus stimulating and restore hair growth.
Blood is taken from your arm and processed further in a centrifuge machine. After this process the concentrated platelet rich plasma is separated and reintroduced to the scalp. The process takes approximately one hour.

Although PRP technology is considered cutting edge technology, it haswas initially developed 20 years for heart surgery to aid in wound healing. It been used for years in surgical applications and wound care. The use of PRP for the scalp is fairly new and evolving into a promising treatment for use both as an adjunct to a hair transplant and as a way to reverse hair loss. It is generally accepted that there is a significant response.

PRP treatment is extremely safe and natural, because PRP is produced from your own blood. There is no risk of an allergic reaction. Also PRP contains concentrated amounts of white blood cells, the natural defenders against infections. As a result, infection is extremely rare with PRP treatment.

An initial consultation will be performed to explain the procedure. Also to answer all your questions. The patient should avoid all anti-inflammatory medications and alcohol for 2 days prior. Consume plenty of water. Right after the PRP procedure, the patient is fine to continue normal everyday life.

PRP for skin rejuvenation

Platelets contain a high content of “growth factors” – proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin. Upon insertion the platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to proliferate, in turn stimulating repair, increasing volume and rejuvenating the skin. It is a revolutionary repair system that places growth factors in the exact location where we want the skin to repair and rejuvenate.

After an initial consultation. On the treatment day your blood will be drawn by a phlebotomist. Just like when you go in for a blood test at a doctors office. The blood will then be spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet plasma from the red blood cells.

Any makeup on the skin will be removed using a wipe, and antiseptic will be applied to the injection site. A topical local anaesthetic will then be applied to the skin of the injection site for 30 minutes. PRP is applied to the skin via a derma pen. The treatment usually takes 60-90 minutes. The patients should not drink any alcohol one day prior to treatment. Also eat and drink a lot of fluids before attending their appointment. This will enable the blood to be withdrawn more easily.

It may take a few weeks for the results of the PRP therapy to become visible. However the skin continues to improve months and even a year post treatment.
There is two to three days down time with this procedure. Depending on individual patients. We do recommend to wait two days before applying make up, however make up can be applied day after if needed. So best to have some recovery time.
Post-treatment advice will be provided at consultation and treatment day. Also a follow up appointment will be available. Avoid touching the area or applying any creams or make up to the area for at least six hours. Also gentle washing of the skin for a few days after treatment. Most patients will resume normal activities after treatment.
There are few side effects as it using your own blood. After the procedure, you can expect some bruising, swelling and redness at the treated area. You may also experience some tenderness, bruise and pain at the injection. Individual response vary. However, any side effects should dissipate within a few days following the procedure.

Skin tags

Skin tags are made of loose collagen fibres and blood vessels surrounded by skin. Collagen is a type of protein found throughout the body.

Both men and women can develop skin tags.

Skin tags tend to grow in the skin folds, where the skin rubs against itself, such as on the neck, armpits or groin. This is why they tend to affect overweight people who have excess folds of skin and skin chafing.

Skin tags are harmless and don’t usually cause pain or discomfort. However you may consider having skin tags removed for aesthetic reasons.

Skin tightening

It works by mobilizing collagen fibres into action so the skin can regain its elasticity and form. This is a non-invasive procedure. The area is cleansed, then you have a gel applied, and the procedure starts where a probe is glided over your skin.

The skin tightening treatment uses infra-red pulsed light technology to heat the deepest layers of skin and increases the production of collagen. This improves the skin laxity and tightens loose skin. It re-contours the body and softens out wrinkles. This results in firmer, tighter and younger looking skin.

Treatment is very pleasant with a warm sensation and no pain. We do a skin cleanse before the treatment. There is no downtime and makeup can be applied straight after.
Results are visible immediately and will keep improving over the next 3-6 months. The skin will appear tighter, plumper and more even toned skin. Aseries of treatments are required. This will be discussed at your consultation. It is based on age and lifestyle.

Individual results vary.

It can be used anywhere on the body and face, it is particularly popular for face and saggy jawline, tummy, saggy knees/elbow or loose skin after sudden weight loss.

For the non-invasive treatment, your skin will be red for a short period of time but you can carry on your day as normal.

Anyone who has started noticed a loss of elasticity in their skin, for example, saggy in the face and jawline, sudden weight loss, wrinkly knees, elbow or butt.

Key advantages:

  • Tighten skin
  • smaller pores size
  • even skin tone.

Micro needling/Dermapen

The Dermapenis an FDA approved device that is proven to be less uncomfortable, with minimal to no downtime and provides greater results than a roller device. The added advantage of the pen is that the depth of the needle penetration can be altered during treatment. The tip of the pen is small, allowing it to pass closer to the eyes and nose for a more effective treatment in these areas that are of concern to many patients. So those with a fear of needles shouldn’t discard this technique straight away, as the microneedle length can vary from 0.5 to 3.0 mm, which is incredibly tiny compared to a traditional needle. Also before the micro needling the face is anesthetized. So you feel nothing.
When your skin starts repairing itself it boost your body’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin, which provides that firm plumpness. It also helps improve skin texture and tone, reducing the appearance of scars and stretch marks and creates a more youthful skin tone.
During the initial consultation a treatment plan is set and desired results are determined.
The number of treatments depends on the each individual skin condition, but usually patients are looking at 3-6 treatments. Treatments are performed approximately every 4 weeks. Recommended maintenance treatments every 6-9 months. Individual assessment will determine your course of treatment. So book your free skin analysis today at Redeem Medispa!
All skin colours and skin types are eligible. However it should be avoided if one has any active infection on the skin like acne or rosacea.

IPL Acne Treatment

To answer this you first need to understand what causes acne in the first place. Acne occurs when your body produces too much of the male hormone androgen (that is in fact present in men and women). Androgen is responsible for making increased levels of oil (sebum) to be produced by your sebaceous gland which in turn can cause the pores in your skin to get blocked. These blocked pores stop the oil rising to the skin’s surface making it susceptible to bacteria feeding on the oil and causing the inflammation and spots.

IPL acne treatment systems work by creating oxygen that rapidly eliminates the bacteria that feeds the blocked pores, which is the main source of most acne and inflammation.

IPL systems have undergone clinical trials to ensure they are safe and effective to use but it is worth noting the Blue Light acne treatment is not effective for all acne types. To determine your eligibility for IPL blue light book your free skin analysis at Redeem Medispa, where you can determine your best course of action for your acne.

Many people have had great, life-changing success with this method so it is worth trying the treatment.

“My acne was was considerable and I would never go out without makeup, but after the first month of IPL blue light at Redeem Medispa I felt confident enough to spend the day with no make up. It really has made a difference, I was sceptical at first but so glad l tried it. The staff at Redeem were very supportive and also advised me on my home care routine. I would recommend that you give it a try.”

PRP and Derma Pen for stretch marks

The number of treatments required depends on individual case. However minimum of 4 platelet rich plasma treatments are common and are usually performed at monthly intervals. Sometimes people may need even 6 treatments.
For stretch marks PRP therapy provides natural and long lasting results. Once you have reached the desired results for the stretch marks additional treatments are not required.

Individual results vary.

Numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort.
Usually it would take approximately 45-60 minutes.
This therapy uses your own blood. Because of this, the risk of allergy or cellular rejection is eliminated, making PRP one of the safest and most tolerable procedures available today.
